SOUTHEAST – A property damage auto crash on Deans Corners Road in Southeast has led to the arrest of a North Salem woman on felony charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child passenger (Leandra’s Law).

State Police Monday reported the arrest of Briana Giuliano, 37, in connection with the incident.

Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli said at 9:55 p.m. when a patrol investigated the crash, Giuliano “showed signs of intoxication. She was unable to successfully complete the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests administered to her. Further investigation found that a 7-year-old child was in the vehicle at the time of the incident.”

Giuliano was arrested and brought to the Brewster State Police barracks for processing, where she gave a breath sample showing a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.20 percent — over twice the legal limit for DWI in New York State.

Giuliano also faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated (with a blood alcohol content of .18 percent or higher) and driving while intoxicated.

Following arraignment, Giuliano was released without bail and is expected to appear for a court hearing in Southeast in May.

The top charge carries a maximum four-year state prison term if found guilty.

The child was entrusted to a sober individual.
