Putnam celebrates National Library Week across the county

CARMEL- Libraries spark creativity while fueling imagination and inspiring lifelong learning by offering space where individuals can find joy through exploration and discovery.

The Putnam Legislature has proclaimed this week as National Library Week throughout the county, recognizing each of Putnam’s eight libraries for acting as lively community centers that connect people with knowledge and technology, encourage civic participation, and promote critical thinking.

Legislator Nancy Montgomery of Garrison commended libraries for partnering with schools, businesses and organizations for “maximizing resources, increasing efficiency and expanding access to essential services, empowering job seekers, and lifelong learners by providing access resources and training that support career growth and economic success.”

Montgomery thanked librarians and their staff for “protecting the right to read, think and explore without censorship, standing as champions of intellectual freedom and free expression.”
