MONTICELLO- Sullivan County Manager Joshua Potosek has been appointed to a key leadership role in a national organization representing local government administrators.

Potosek was recently named Northeast Regional Vice President of the National Association of County Administrators, a group that supports county leaders across the country.  In his new position, he will serve as a liaison to county administrators across a dozen states, including New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, as well as several New England states and the District of Columbia.

For Potosek, the appointment reflects years of involvement with organizations focused on improving county government operations.  He said the association provides practical guidance and a network of peers facing similar challenges.

“NACA provides valuable practical solutions and networking for me and my colleagues who oversee the operations of county governments nationwide,” Potosek said.  “I’m proud to be introducing other municipal administrators to their apolitical advice, support and education.”

In addition to offering professional development, the organization advocates on behalf of counties at the federal level.  Potosek recently participated in an executive committee meeting in Washington, D.C., held alongside a conference of the National Association of Counties.

Potosek noted that the role will allow him to both learn from and share ideas with other county leaders, particularly as local governments continue to navigate complex issues.

“NACA is relentlessly issues-oriented, offering real-world ideas and best practices,” he said.  “It gives me insight into how other county leaders are addressing critical issues, and allows me to share our best practices with them as well.”
