HUDSON VALLEY- State Police take the enforcement of New York State’s Move Over law seriously, with Operation Hard Hat details conducted periodically to enhance the safety of highway workers as well as motorists in active work zones.

This week, a detail resulted in dozens of arrests on I-84 in Orange County and on Thursday, a similar enforcement on I-684 saw 72 motorists being issued citations for speeding, distracted driving, talking on cell phones, and other unsafe behaviors.

State Police Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli said during the detail, troopers were positioned along the interstate near the Putnam-Westchester County line in North Salem within an active work zone to observe violations in real time and take enforcement action when necessary.

Paolicelli reminded motorists to “slow down, remain alert, and move over when approaching work zones and emergency personnel.”
