TOWN OF LLOYD – Members of the Lloyd Police Department, including Chief Jim Janso, were caught putting 500 trout, including five “golden trout,” into the lake at Beran Park this week. The police action was in preparation for Saturday’s 5th annual Cops & Bobbers Youth Fishing Tournament.
The Lloyd Police Department purchased the fish from the Beaverkill Hatchery in Livingston. The fish are currently in the water at Beran Park waiting for the fishing tournament to begin, according to Chief Janso.
The tournament is taking place rain or shine on Saturday, April 25, between 9 a.m. and noon. Children ages 15 and under are encouraged to participate.
Bait will be available at the park, but kids have to bring their own tackle, and they are limited to one pole per child.
The kids are not required to have a fishing license.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the park, located at 53 Reservoir Road in Highland.
