CATSKILLS- The National Scenic Byway Association in Ohio recognized the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway with a 2026 Byway Award for outstanding Partnership. This honor celebrated an innovative 70-mile scavenger hunt that transformed the scenic corridor into a community-wide adventure for both visitors and residents.
David Krantz is the program manager of the byway and said this happened with the help of local businesses.
“There was a good relationship back and forth of getting (people in) the seats and in their dining halls, their restaurants, their cafes, and having them cross-promote the event.”
He said. The first-time scavenger hunt was a hit for everyone because of the testimonials he received, like this one from Katrina from Brooklyn.
“My boys both said the prize was getting to the scavenger hunt. We had so much fun.”
This year’s grand prize was a $1,200 inflatable kayak. They are hoping to run the game again in the near future, so stay tuned.
