TOWN OF ROCKLAND – A 40-year-old Rochester man was arrested by State Police following a vehicle and traffic stop on westbound Route 17 in the Town of Rockland after he was found in possession of drugs.
Troopers pulled over Yassir Ali Mohamed Sharhan at about 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15. Sharhan who was alone in a 2026 Kia, was found to be driving while impaired by khat, a stimulant. A search of his car yields some 432 grams of the drug.
He was charged with two felony counts of drug possession, one of which was for intent to sell, as well as operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs as a misdemeanor.
Sharhan was arraigned and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
