MONTICELLO – ShopRite of Monticello presented a donation check to the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless on Thursday.

This contribution was generated through the supermarket’s Partners in Caring efforts, where employees and local shoppers donated at the register. The funds are designated to support the federation’s soup kitchen and food pantry operations.

Kathy Kreiter from the federation accepted the check. “We come here three times a week, and we pick up rescued produce and other kinds of food. And it is a boon. It is what keeps us going,” she said.

As part of their fundraising efforts, Stephen Hildner from Partners and Sharing gave two store employees a collector’s Cheerios box featuring their picture on the back.

“Amanda Davis, here is your forever-fresh Cheerios box,” Hildner said. “And Tanya Franco, I present to you this completely nonperishable box of Cheerios.”

Both of them were honored to be part of giving to the community.
