Brian Maher (R,C-Walden) hosts an Alzheimer’s awareness breakfast each April, bringing together local business and community leaders to discuss the impact of the disease.
Due to his deployment with the U.S. Navy Reserves, Maher won’t be able to attend this year’s event, set for 7:30 a.m. on Friday at Osiris Country Club in Walden. However, he is excited about his fill-in emcee, Construction Contractors Association CEO and Executive Director Dan Depew.
“It is an honor to support Assemblyman Brian Maher’s mission locally with the Alzheimer’s Association, as he defends our country abroad,” Depew said. “Alzheimer’s long and emotionally painful process robs the person along with families from their loved ones personality and individualism. It puts a huge burden on everybody caring for the suffering, in almost every conservable way. Families who support the life of someone with Alzheimer’s need support, guidance, and hope always.”
Each year, Maher plays a key role in supporting the Hudson Valley Walk to End Alzheimer’s, an event held each fall that raises more than $100,000 annually to support care, research and local resources. As part of that effort, Maher hosts the annual breakfast to help expand awareness and encourage community involvement ahead of the walk.
This year’s event, held in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter, will focus on the intersection of Alzheimer’s and the workforce, providing insight into how the disease impacts employers, employees and families.
