Grants awarded through Putnam Arts Council

PUTNAM COUNTY- Following a rigorous process, the Putnam Arts Council has awarded grants to a number of non-for-profits through its 2026 Arts Link Community Re-grant Program—awards supported in part, with public funds through the

NYS Council on the Arts in conjunction with the Governor’s Office and N.Y.S. Legislature.

The stipends were announced by Joyce Picone, President and Executive Director of the arts council.

In the area of music, the Chapel Restoration in Cold Spring received a $7,500 award for its Sunday Music Series while the Putnam Symphony in Brewster earned a $6,919 grant for its Spring and Holiday Concert.

Arts on the Lake in Kent Lakes was awarded $5,000 for the Mercurial Gold-Bringing Back New Music program and the Putnam Chorale—a $4,500 grant for the ‘From Darkness to Light: Mozart’s Requiem & Gjeilo Sunrise Mass.

Doansburg Chamber Ensemble’s Concert Series received a $7,500 award while Arts on the Lake earned a $3,000 grant for the Midhat Serbagi Classical Music Series.

A grant of $3,000 was awarded to the Patterson Library for the Sounds of Patterson Concert Series and a $4,000 award was presented to Music at St. Mary’s in Cold Spring for its concert season.

In the field of dance, Arts on the Lake received $5,900 for the Putnam Dance Project while Cold Spring Dance was awarded $7,500 for The Warhol Experience.

Grants for visual arts were also presented.

The Patterson Library received $1,000 for Art thru the Season; Kent Library, a $2,000 award for Teen Art Takeover.

Patterson Library also received a $3,500 award for its Children and Teen Musical Theatre Residency while Arts on the Lake was awarded $2,500 for the “Reading the News” Theater Project.

Arts on the Lake earned a $5,000 grant as sponsor of The Theatre Connection inaugural production while the Garrison Landing Association was awarded $6,500 for its Aery Theatre One Act Play Competition.

Other grants were awarded totaling $15,000 with county funds including the

Hudson Valley Shakespeare Community Bake-Off Playwriting Series–$2,000; Tompkins Corners Cultural Center for the John Cohen Memorial Concert Series-$3,500; Brewster Theater Co. of Carmel for its production of 

‘A Cricket &Tale, an original musical based on the story of Pinocchio”-$3,000; Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition, $2,000 for the 2026 Brewster Summer Music Series; Brewster Theater for its ‘Into the Woods’ a musical-$2,000; Garrison Arts Center for a mentor program for local high school students and professional artists-$1,000; and Arts on the Lake, a $1,500 award for its 2026 Summer Concert Series.
