PAWLING – Carmel’s current Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Elizabeth Kennedy, has been appointed as Superintendent of the Pawling School District, succeeding interim Superintendent Anthony DiCarlo, effective July 1.
In making the appointment, the Pawling Board of Education commended Kennedy for her “work ethic, expertise, integrity and leadership to tackle” what School Board President Zack Graczyk called “expectations and challenges head-on. We are confident Dr. Kennedy will unite our community around the shared values and aspirations that make Pawling an amazing place.”
Kennedy brings 20 years of experience in public education to Pawling.
Her current boss, Carmel Superintendent Michael Plotkin wished Kennedy well in her new position. “She has been employed in Carmel for the past four years working in the field of Pupil Personnel Services related to special education and always trying to find the best way to assist each student. I realize she is not going too far so I’m sure we will keep in touch.”
Kennedy was thrilled to have been selected as Pawling’s new chief school administrator. “Every student deserves equitable access to high-quality instruction and support within an inclusive system that attends to the whole child. I am so happy to have found a professional home in Pawling where this work has already been done so well, and I’m looking forward to continuing to expand on that strong foundation.”
