Two people were injured when an ambulance, on its way to an emergency, was struck by a vehicle that failed to yield at a busy intersection in northern Westchester, according to State Police.

Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper Krystal Paolicelli said the crash on Tuesday happened around noon and involved a Starnet Emergency vehicle based in Mt. Kisco that was traveling northbound on Route 100 with “emergency lights and siren activated.”

The police spokesperson said at the intersection of Route 35, a Toyota operated by Cindy Lieto-Durand, 65, of Wingdale, which was traveling eastbound failed to yield the right of way, striking the rear driver’s side of the rescue rig.

The woman’s passenger and Michael Jodlowski, 24, of Hopewell Junction, who was driving the ambulance, were taken to Westchester Medical Center with injuries that were considered to be non-life-threatening.

State troopers issued a citation to the Wingdale woman because she did not yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle.
