Kingston to use state grant to upgrade Gallo Park

KINGSTON –The Kingston Common Council passed a resolution Tuesday to authorize Mayor Steve Noble to use a state grant to enhance T.R. Gallo Park.

The environmental protection grant, worth nearly $638,000, from the State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, will be used to develop the park on the Strand.

The park, which is located on the city’s waterfront, is the site of many annual local gatherings every year including Irish and Italian ethnic festivals.

The park is also near the Hudson River Maritime Museum, which is host to many annual maritime-themed historical gatherings and activities.

The vote was 9-0.
