Putnam residents retrieve unclaimed funds

PUTNAM COUNTY- A dozen residents of Putnam County are a tad richer today after retrieving unclaimed funds from the State of New York.

The NYS Comptroller’s Office, working with Putnam Legislator Bill Gouldman, organized an unclaimed funds forum at the German American Club of Putnam Valley attended by some thirty-five residents.

Of those who attended twelve individuals found accounts that had unclaimed

funds in their name with a few holding several accounts.

Gouldman said: “During these tough times of increasing costs, getting money that you were not aware of is immensely helpful. Whether it is $20 or several hundred dollars, this is your money: You should take advantage of it.”

Gouldman also thanked State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli’s staff for visiting Putnam Valley in spreading the message of unclaimed funds.

Last year New York State returned $163,024,979 in unclaimed funds.

Gouldman reminded the public: “If you did not get a chance to stop by you can still check if you have money owed to you in the unclaimed funds account by visiting for information.”
