KINGSTON – Ulster County is going to be the next Hudson Valley county to adopt a sales tax cap on gasoline at a $3 purchase price as prices at the pump increase daily since the Trump attack on Iran.

Freshman County Legislator Laura Donovan, a member of the majority Democratic caucus, said she has bipartisan support for the measure.

“I’ve spoken with the key members of the legislature including both my own caucus and the (Republican) minority caucus. The minority leader is cosponsoring this resolution, and I do expect it to pass,” she said.

All of the county gasoline sales tax caps cannot take effect, by state law, until June 1.
