WOODBOURNE – The New York State Office of Children and Family Services Commissioner DaMia Harris-Madden and Sullivan County Commissioner of Health and Human Services John Liddle delivered a detailed presentation on the governor’s budget on Tuesday. The event, held at the Regional Economic Community Action Program in Woodbourne, highlighted how record-breaking resources were allocated to support New York families.

Commissioner Madden says affordable childcare is essential. “We know during the foundational years, formative years of one’s life, children should be in environments where they can learn, and they can thrive,” she said. “But also, parents should not have to make decisions to either stay home or remove themselves from the workplace.”

Commissioner Liddle echoed her remarks. “The reality is that you need two paychecks in a household to be able to pay the rent and pay the car payment, and pay the grocery bills.”

Madden said, “By investing in childcare opportunities, the governor is making it possible for families to have both.”
