GREENVILLE – Hannah Wieboldt of Greenville has been selected as the 2026-27 New York State DairY Ambassador by the American Dairy Association North East.
The junior at Minisink Valley High School has been provided with a $2,000 scholarship and an internship opportunity while serving as a spokeswoman and advocate for all New York dairy farmers.
“It’s extremely important to let the people know to keep the younger generation that are around my age to want to stay within the dairy industry and carry on for the farms in the next generation as well as showing the older generations that there are people who are still interested and that continuing farming is a really important thing,” she said.
Hannah hopes to attend SUNY Cobleskill for animal science.
She notes dairy farming plays a significant role in the state’s economy with 2,800 dairy herds and more than 16 billion pounds of milk produced annually.
