CARMEL- Welcome to affluent Putnam County!
The U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey five-year estimated median household income report was released, indicating that Putnam County is the third most affluent county in New York State, falling only behind Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island.
Data released noted that median household income was not individual salaries meaning that statistics captured all income sources for everyone living in a household combined—not just a single earner.
The bureau identified median income as the income value that sits in the middle of a group from lowest to highest earners.
Putnam’s median household income is $127,405 followed by Westchester’s $118,411 which came in fourth, Rockland County’s $110,631 ranking fifth; Dutchess County which came in ninth with a median income of $97,273 followed closely by 10th ranked Orange County with a median income of $96,497.
