BEACON — Hundreds of people participated in the No Kings Rally, organized by Indivisible 845 on Saturday, March 28 in Beacon. The afternoon protest began in Memorial Park, where local activists and community leaders addressed the crowd, sharing their personal experiences and concerns about the Trump administration’s impact on their lives.
U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan, (NY-18), made a brief appearance to express his support for the cause and stress the importance of civic engagement.
Marchers proceeded through the streets of Beacon, escorted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Passersby shouted their support, with some joining in. The demonstration concluded at a small park near Beacon City Hall, where music played and activist organizations set up tables to share information and sell merchandise.
“We’re trying to build a community here,” said Indivisible 845 member Mark O’Malley. He stressed to Mid-Hudson News that there are people who are just like them (attendees) and share a similar mindset opposing the current administration. “We want to make sure that people know that there’s people out there that think like them.”
The Beacon protest was one of hundreds held nationwide on Saturday as part of the No Kings movement.
