POUGHKEEPSIE — A City of Poughkeepsie man was arrested Tuesday after an investigation by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force on charges related to the sale of crack cocaine, authorities said. The Drug Task Force launched the investigation after identifying Jermaine Thomas, 49, as a suspected narcotics dealer operating on the city’s North Side. Undercover agents purchased crack cocaine from Thomas at multiple locations, officials said.
On March 25, agents arrested Thomas at College Hill Park on North Clinton Street without incident. Police said he was carrying multiple bags of crack cocaine packaged for sale, drug packaging materials, scales, and cash. A subsequent search of his Winnikee Avenue residence with assistance from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department uncovered additional evidence of drug sales.
Thomas was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, and additional charges are pending, Detective Sergeant Adam Harris, the task force coordinator, said. He was arraigned in city court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
