YORKTOWN – A disturbing incident was reported Thursday by Yorktown Police involving the arrest of a 13-year-old boy for allegedly choking a 12-year-old on a school bus earlier this month.
Detectives said the youth, whose name was not released because of his age, placed a hand on the victim’s neck for several seconds obstructing the child’s ability to breathe.
The victim reported the incident to his parents who notified school officials and police.
Following an investigation, the 13-year-old was charged with juvenile delinquency with the underlying offense being criminal obstruction of breathing if committed by an adult.
The offender’s parents were issued a juvenile appearance ticket. The case now proceeds through Westchester County Family Court with an appearance scheduled in April.
The child also faces disciplinary action by the school district.
