Raid seizes largest amount of illegal vape products in county history
WAPPINGER, N.Y. — Mohammed Alyasjeen, 27, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested after authorities investigated alleged illegal sales of drugs and alcohol at M&M Convenience and Tobacco, located at 1831 New Hackensack Road (Route 376).
Law enforcement raided the store Saturday, March 21, seizing what officials say is the largest quantity of vape products ever confiscated in Dutchess County, according to Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Capt. John Watterson.
In late 2025, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office received reports of suspicious activity at the business, including alleged sales of alcohol and marijuana/THC products to minors, Detective Lt. Gerry Pfitscher said Saturday while authorities executed a search warrant.
The investigation found several products were allegedly sold illegally, including alcoholic beverages, THC products, vape pens, untaxed cigarettes and psychedelic mushrooms.
On March 21, 2026, detectives from the sheriff’s office and agents from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, with help from the Dutchess County Health Department, executed a search warrant and used a large trailer to remove the alleged illegal items.
Alyasjeen was taken into custody when agents arrived Saturday morning. He has been charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and the misdemeanors of endangering the welfare of a child, unlawfully dealing with a child, sale of alcoholic beverages to a minor, sale of alcoholic beverages without a license, keeping alcoholic beverages on premises without a permit, and selling untaxed cigarettes.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed.

Alyasjeen was arraigned in Town of LaGrange Justice Court and released. His next court appearance is scheduled for 5 p.m. April 8 in Town of Wappinger Justice Court.
