BLOOMINGBURG – Congressman Josh Riley (D, NY-19) joined local officials and community members in Bloominburgh on Monday to officially announce $1.1 million in federal funding designated for critical upgrades to the village’s wastewater treatment system.

“This funding is going to help upgrade the water treatment plant, fix the pump stations that have caused so many problems, and move Bloomingburg toward a system that works better, costs a lot less to maintain, and is built to last,” he said while in the Sullivan County village on Monday.

Much of the district is rural with many small towns and villages, and he said Bloomingburg is not forgotten.

“Today is a really big step forward, and it’s one that this village, this community has earned,” Riley said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s not just money for these communities. It’s a message to the smallest towns in the most rural places that you deserve your fair share, too.”
