TOWN OF WALLKILL – Social media posts that teens were going to take over the Galleria at Crystal Run in the Town of Wallkill on Sunday were bogus, but just to be on the safe side, law enforcement made their presence known.
The shopping center has a policy that underage kids must be accompanied by an adult, and several unsupervised kids were turned away.
Wallkill officers were aided by state troopers, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies and mall security to send a handful of youths away.
Wallkill Police Chief Robert Hertman said four youths gave officers as tough time and were charged with trespassing.
The chief emphasized the law enforcement community has an excellent working relationship with Galleria management and there were no problems despite the bogus social media post.
