PHILIPSTOWN- Work is underway on the northern section of the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail at the Wade’s Hill Parking Lot and connector to the existing Wilkinson Memorial Trail in Philipstown.
The Wade’s Hill Parking Lot and Nimham Extension trail are located within the Hudson Highlands State Park Preserve, north of Breakneck Ridge and once construction is completed will be accessible via Route 9D.
The Nimham Extension will connect the new parking lot to the Wilkinson Memorial and Nimham trails to the south, creating additional access to the Breakneck/Bull Hill system of trails.
Lori Moss, Communications Manager for the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail,
said her organization’s mission was to “create and steward a 7.5-mile linear park along the Hudson River that solves existing safety concerns around visitation, provides welcoming access to people of all ages and abilities, restores and protects natural resources, and enhances quality of life for local communities.”
The Fjord Trail will add organized parking, public restrooms, trash/recycling collection, and distribute users of the park along the route from Cold Spring to Beacon with six main access points.
