POUGHKEEPSIE – Two administrators at Poughkeepsie High School have been relieved of their duties by the school district. Poughkeepsie High School Principal Phee Simpson and Ninth Grade Principal Felicia Schinella were removed from their positions last week, according to sources familiar with the removals.
Dr. Simpson, when reached by Mid-Hudson News, declined to elaborate on her removal, which is the second time she has been removed from the position at the high school. Principal Schinella did not return an email seeking comment.
The district declined to provide information on the removals, citing district policy that prohibits commenting on the status of any employee.
The school district said, “Last week, staff at the high school were notified that Assistant Principal Joseph Mazzetti is in charge of the building’s daily operations until further notice.”
Mid-Hudson News spoke with several parents of Poughkeepsie High School students, and they all independently denied receiving any notification from the school or the district about the principals.
*Assistant Principal (AP) Schinella called Mid-Hudson News on Thursday to deny having been walked out of the school. She was informed that three employees at the school independently provided information to the contrary. The AP said, “I don’t know why I am being dragged into this,” before declining to provide additional information about her status at Poughkeepsie High School.
