GOSHEN – A Newburgh man will spend the next six years in a state prison following his guilty plea to attempted assault charges.

It was alleged that at about 7:40 p.m. on September 3, 2025, Dave Fulford, 21, ran up to a man from behind on Van Ness Street in the City of Newburgh and slashed him in the face with a sharp object.

As a result, the victim sustained a large laceration that required stitches.

Fulford later admitted to police that he attacked the man.

“Violent offenders need to be held accountable for their crimes,” said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler. “This defendant’s behavior constituted life-altering acts of violence.”
