NEWBURGH – In a little over two weeks, Newburgh City Manager Todd Venning will be leaving as the city council has yet to select a successor.

While Mayor Torrance Harvey said they are deliberating their next move, Councilman Rob McLymore said there have been no definitive discussions of a game plan when the office is vacated on March 31.

“I think we as a council have to get together and start discussing the transition,” he said. “Two weeks left, we don’t want to leave the city in a vulnerable position where we have no city manager, or we are still contemplating on who is going to be the interim.”

McLymore said there have been no discussions about an interim manager. Deputy City Manager Michael Neppl could be considered for interim or permanent manager, but McLymore said there have been no discussions at all about filling the position.

In fact, the city has yet to list the position as being available on its official website.
