POUGHKEEPSIE — A parolee was arrested Tuesday evening after fleeing police on a motorcycle in a city park, Poughkeepsie police said.
David Rosario, 27, of Wappingers Falls, faces a felony charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as misdemeanors for aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving. He was also cited for driving off the roadway in a city park and several other traffic violations.
According to police, an officer attempted to interview Rosario, who had parked his motorcycle on the grass in a city park. As the officer approached, Rosario fled on the motorcycle. Additional officers tried to stop him as he left the park, but were unsuccessful. Shortly after, a patrol unit spotted Rosario pulling out of a driveway on the motorcycle and took him into custody.
Police said Rosario was paroled from state prison on Feb. 25 after serving a sentence for an illegal gun charge in Poughkeepsie. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly in possession of cocaine.
Rosario’s motorcycle was impounded. Details regarding Rosario’s arraignment were not immediately available.
