Geneva’s Blues House

POUGHKEEPSIE – The owner of Geneva’s Blues House Restaurant in the City of Poughkeepsie is dismayed over the arrest of the man who operates the tavern for her.

Carlos “Los” Wood, 55, runs the business for Third Ward City Alderwoman Terriciena Brown.

He was arrested on Thursday morning by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Neighborhood Recovery Unit (NRU), assisted by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, when they executed a at the Hooker Avenue location.

Wood was charged with felony criminal sale of a controlled substance. Police said community complaints prompted the investigation.

Alderwoman Brown also holds the New York State Liquor License for the establishment.

Following the raid, Mid-Hudson News reached out to Councilwoman Brown for a response, which she provided late Thursday afternoon.

“I am aware of the charges against my Chef Carlos Wood,” Brown said.  “Obviously, I am deeply disappointed by the allegations, and I am deeply hurt.”  The councilwoman indicated that she will cooperate with the investigation while also denying knowledge of the alleged drug activity.  “While I am the owner, let me be clear that I was unaware that Mr. Woods was allegedly drug trafficking at my establishment –  Geneva’s House of Blues.”  Story continues below.

Further distancing herself from the scandal, Brown also said,” As a community and civic leader that has worked for decades to improve our city – his actions do not reflect my years of commitment and work here in the City of Poughkeepsie to improve our residents’ lives.  The selling and distribution of illegal drugs has no business here in the City of Poughkeepsie or anywhere else in our communities and those that do such activities must be held accountable.”
