POUGHKEEPSIE — The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department’s Neighborhood Recovery Unit (NRU) raided Geneva’s Blues House restaurant on Hooker Avenue Thursday morning as part of an ongoing narcotics distribution investigation, officials said.

Carlos “Los” Wood, 55, the business owner, was arrested at the scene and charged with felony criminal sale of a controlled substance. Police said community complaints prompted the investigation.

Wood, a four-time convicted felon, was arraigned in City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to Dutchess County Jail without bail.

Detective Lt. Sean McCarthy said the search warrant resulted in the seizure of narcotics and materials consistent with the sale of illegal drugs.

City of Poughkeepsie Third Ward Councilwoman Terriciena Brown holds the liquor license for the establishment where the raid took place.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force assisted the NRU with the search warrant.  Police encourage residents who suspect drug activity or observe suspicious behavior to contact the Neighborhood Recovery Unit at (845) 451-4060. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling the department’s tip line at (845) 451-7577. All calls will be kept confidential.
