Serial kidnapper and convicted rapist pleads guilty to kidnapping another woman

NEW CITY – A serial kidnapper and rapist from Garnerville faces 14 years in state prison when sentenced in June after pleading guilty in Rockland County Court to kidnapping a woman on September 14, 2025.

District Attorney Thomas Walsh II said Eduardo Hernandez, 49, will be sentenced in June in connection with the attack on a woman outside a home in the Village of Haverstraw where he restrained her and threated her with a screwdriver. She was able to break free and run for help.

He was apprehended the following day by Haverstraw Police.

Hernandez had been released from state prison on March 15, 2022 after serving 19 years for three separate felony convictions for attacking three women.

On December 22, 2002, he attacked a 48-year-old woman, who was able to break free and run for help.

On April 18, 2004, he raped a 52-year-old woman, and later that day kidnapping a 31-year-old woman.

DNA on ropes he used as well as clothing provided evidence to convict Hernandez.
