CARMEL – More than 80 Putnam County families facing New York’s affordability crisis have diapers for their newborns thanks in part to the Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP) and the efforts of Assemblyman Matt Slater.
CAP’s 2026 Diaper Drive concluded Tuesday with 1,600 of the disposables donated.
Slater called diapers a “necessity for infants and toddlers, yet nearly half of families with young children struggle to afford them. Every parent knows diapers are essential. The outpouring of generosity we’ve seen over the past three years proves that when our community sees a need, we step up. While New York’s affordability crisis continues to impact working families, this is one meaningful way we can come together to support our neighbors and ensure every child has access to basic necessities.”
Marisa O’Leary, director of the Putnam Community Action Partnership added, “These donations provide essential relief to the low-income families we serve, ensuring that every child in our community has access to basic necessities. This partnership is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together for our neighbors.”
