MAHOPAC FALLS – A traffic stop conducted by Carmel Police on Route 6N and Baldwin Place Road in the Mahopac Falls section of town has resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old Mahopac man on a domestic violence warrant issued by a magistrate in Lake County, Florida.
Carmel Police Chief Anthony Hoffmann said Tuesday when the officer stopped the suspect’s vehicle for allegedly committing several traffic violations and checked his name with the New York State Police Information Network, he discovered an active warrant had been issued for Edward Hernandez for “domestic violence strangulation” in the Sunshine State.
Hernandez was arraigned in Carmel Town Court and was remanded to the Putnam Correctional Facility without bail to await extradition proceedings from Florida.
