POUGHKEEPSIE – Crime victims and family members met behind closed doors on Monday with a State Senate Democratic committee to discuss what can be done to ease the plight of those individuals.

Rolison’s session in Poughkeepsie, which included sheriffs and district attorneys from his Mid-Hudson district, heard from the law enforcement officials about holding people accountable and supporting victims.

Rolison, a retired police officer and former Poughkeepsie mayor, said despite the Republicans being in the minority in Albany, they will continue to seek collaboration with the Democrats.

“I work across the aisle, and especially when it comes to victims of crime and individuals who have been impacted by that – not only the victims themselves but their family members and the community – and we understand the limitations when it comes to public safety and the criminal justice in Albany, but we will always work to find areas where we can have that common ground,” he said after the meeting.

This was the third in a series of meetings about crime victims held by the Republicans, the others being in Buffalo and Long Island.
