NEWBURGH – A new city assessor has been appointed in Newburgh. Renee Ozomek has over 20 years of experience in real property valuation and municipal assessment administration.
Before coming to Newburgh, she served as assessor for the Town of Wawarsing and had previously held assessor positions in the towns of Liberty, Delaware, and Highland, as well as serving as a senior property appraiser for the City of Yonkers.
The city assessor is charged with supervision of the Bureau of Assessments and is responsible for valuing more than 6,900 parcels annually and maintaining the city’s assessment roll at a uniform percentage of market value in accordance with state law.
The Bureau of Assessments also operates the city’s property record online system, an interactive real property inventory and assessment website that allows residents and property owners to search assessments, exemptions, comparable sales, and property descriptions.
