Carmel Town Board establishes contracts for fire and ambulance service

CARMEL- Without a single person addressing the Carmel Town Board regarding fire protection and ambulance service contracts, the five-member panel has approved the agreements.

The Mahopac, Carmel and Mahopac Falls Fire Departments provide fire protection for Putnam’s largest township while the Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps and North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps provide ambulance service.

Both the Mahopac Fire Department and Mahopac Falls Fire Department also supply ambulance services for their districts.

The board set the contract for the Mahopac Fire Department at $1,742,000; for the Carmel Fire Department–$1,017,000; Mahopac Falls Fire Department–$966,380; Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps.–$532,750 and the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps.–$13,000.
