DUTCHESS COUNTY – The long arm of the law has led to the sentencing of a 49-year-old Quincy, Illinois man to 15 years in federal prison for enticing a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
It was alleged that convicted sex offender Derek Hasselbrink, also known as Derek Spear, engaged in sexually explicit message conversations with a 15-year-old girl, and traveled to meet her near her home in Dutchess County to engage in sexual activity.
In addition to his prison term, Hasselbrink was sentenced to 15 years of supervised release.
