U.S. forces conducted three lethal maritime strikes targeting narcotics-trafficking vessels operated by organizations designated as terrorist entities, according to an announcement issued Tuesday by U.S. Southern Command.

The command reported that the operations occurred late Feb. 16 under the direction of Gen. Francis L. Donovan as part of Joint Task Force Southern Spear. Intelligence assessments determined the vessels were traveling along established trafficking corridors and actively engaged in illicit drug transport at the time they were struck.

The military stated that 11 male narco-terrorists were killed during the coordinated actions. Four individuals were killed aboard the first vessel in the Eastern Pacific, four aboard a second vessel in the same region, and three aboard a third vessel operating in the Caribbean Sea. The command reported that no U.S. service members were injured during the mission.

Video released by the command shows the vessels being destroyed in explosions during the strikes. The footage was shared publicly alongside the official statement.

In a formal statement, Southern Command said:

“Late on Feb. 16, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted three lethal kinetic strikes on three vessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes and were engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Eleven male narco-terrorists were killed during these actions, 4 on the first vessel in the Eastern Pacific, 4 on the second vessel in the Eastern Pacific, and 3 on the third vessel in the Caribbean. No U.S. military forces were harmed.”

Southern Command reported that since Operation Southern Spear began on Sept. 2, 2025, U.S. forces have destroyed at least 42 drug boats and killed at least 144 narco-terrorists across the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea.

The command further stated that at least six drug-trafficking vessels have been neutralized since Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro was captured by U.S. forces in early January. Two additional vessels were struck last week, according to the announcement.
