Nov. 6, 2026 — GE Aerospace announced that it had signed sales and service agreements in China worth more than $12.9 billion during the China International Import Expo (CIIE), marking the company’s highest-ever deal value at the annual trade event.

The agreements highlight continued demand for aircraft engines, spare parts and maintenance services in China’s aviation market, despite broader economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

The ninth edition of the China International Import Expo, a major trade initiative associated with President Xi Jinping, opened in Shanghai on Thursday.

China Eastern Airlines Orders 202 LEAP-1A Engines

Among the agreements announced, China Eastern Airlines will purchase 202 LEAP-1A engines to power 101 newly ordered Airbus A320neo-family aircraft.

The deal also includes spare engines and long-term service support, according to a GE Aerospace statement.

GE Aerospace also signed a separate agreement with China Eastern for 14 additional spare engines covering three engine models: LEAP-1A, LEAP-1C and CFM56-7B.

China Eastern Airlines had not immediately issued an announcement regarding the agreements with GE Aerospace.

GE Aerospace Expands Maintenance and Supply Partnerships

Beyond the China Eastern agreements, GE Aerospace signed additional supply and repair arrangements with MTU Maintenance Zhuhai.

The company is a joint venture between China Southern Air Holding Company Limited and Germany’s MTU Aero Engines.

The agreements add to GE Aerospace’s commercial activities in China, covering both new engine sales and the maintenance services needed to support airline operations.

Record Expo Deal Value Highlights China’s Aviation Demand

The more than $12.9 billion in agreements represents a record signing value for GE Aerospace at the annual China International Import Expo.

The deals span engine purchases, spare parts, long-term service support and maintenance partnerships, reflecting the range of aviation services required by airlines and industry partners.

China Eastern’s purchase of 202 LEAP-1A engines is a central part of the announcement, supporting its order for 101 Airbus A320neo-family aircraft.

The additional spare-engine agreement and arrangements with MTU Maintenance Zhuhai further extend GE Aerospace’s commercial relationships in the Chinese aviation sector.

The record deal announcement underscores the importance of China’s aviation market to the company’s engine and service business.
