PORT JERVIS – People with residential cameras helped the police arrest Port Jervis murder suspect David Rombousek several hours after he shot and killed Jason Finch early Sunday, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said Monday.

The DA said video from some 25 cameras put together Rombousek’s travel from the shooting to his flight until he was arrested Sunday evening.

“It shows the changing world that we live in where it used to be going out and interviewing and interviewing a lot of people as the first step, and in this particular case, going out and getting all of the camera footage from all of these different cameras across the City of Port Jervis, put this case together very, very quickly,” he said.

Hoovler credited the “superior cooperation” between the Port Jervis Police, FBI, State Police and the DA’s Office amassing camera footage helped determine the time of the crime leading up to his address.

Officers also had body cameras that recorded segments of the investigation, helping lead to the apprehension of Rombousek in less than one day.
