ELLENVILLE — Thomas John Kennedy Jr., 29, of Kerhonkson is facing several serious charges following an incident that began as a call for a disorderly person on Saturday, January 24th, at the Canna Planet dispensary on Route 209 in the village of Ellenville.
Police Chief Philip Mattracion said Kennedy was very distraught.
“Officer Felicia Torres was first to arrive. She observed one subject in a confrontation with two employees. She was able to get him to walk away for a few minutes. Got him over by the patrol car,” the chief said. “He then ran back into the store and started destroying all the glass cases, causing over $9,000 worth of damage. He had punched two of the employees.”
At the station, Kennedy remained aggressive, spitting at and threatening officers. He was eventually restrained after attempting to grab an officer’s gun. Mattracion said he was taken to Westchester Medical Center.
“I determined that he needed to go to a mental health facility for evaluation,” the chief said.
