PUTNAM COUNTY- The New York State Education Department has released high school graduation rates for the state’s 670 secondary schools, and each of Putnam’s high schools excelled.
A total of 14 school districts in New York had graduation rates of 100 percent in 2025, according to new data. The Putnam Valley High School made the gold star list with its 132 members of the Class of 2025 graduating last June.
Haldane High School in Cold Spring ranked 52nd statewide with a 97 percent graduation rate while Carmel High School and the North Salem High School which educate students in sections of Carmel and Southeast in addition to Croton Falls, Purdys, and North Salem each ranked 256th statewide with a 92 percent graduation rate.
The Mahopac High School came in at 297 statewide resulting from a 91 percent rate of graduation followed by Brewster High School’s 87 percent graduation rate which ranked the school at 437 statewide. New York’s average graduation rate last year was 85 percent down slightly from 86 percent the year before.
The numbers reflect graduation rates for students who entered ninth grade in 2021 and graduated by August of 2025.
Three other nearby schools with a 100 percent rate of graduation included Tuxedo in Orange County along with Ardsley and Hastings in Westchester.
