MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association Thursday said it was “deeply grateful” to District Attorney Brian Conaty and the District Attorney’s Office for securing a , 30, of Monticello.
He was charged with attempted murder of a police officer for firing a gun at pointblank range at a cop last year. The policeman was not struck but suffered other minor injuries.
“The conviction is the result of countless hours of investigative work, coordination, and perseverance by officers and detectives who refused to let violence against law enforcement go unanswered,” said a statement from the union executive board.
“The attempted murder of a police officer is an act of violence that strikes at the heart of community safety,” the board said. “The conviction sends a clear message that attacks on law enforcement officers will be thoroughly investigated and vigorously prosecuted.”
