WASHINGTON – Weeks after reports surfaced of an ICE detention center planned for a former commercial building in Chester now comes a report that

And Congressman Pat Ryan (D, NY-18) is furious about the report of the lease in an office building near New York Stewart International Airport.

Ryan is demanding to know from Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noen when ICE first leased or occupied the New Windsor office, what are the duration and cost and what is the purpose.

“The administration continues to escalate directly against the will of the people of the Hudson Valley, who strongly reject ICE’s dangerous, unconstitutional, un-American attempts to move into our community, terrorize our neighbors, and make us all less safe,” Ryan said Wednesday. “Especially after what we’ve seen in Minnesota – the surge of agents killing civilians, detaining children, and breaking into people’s homes, we should be concerned about their repeated attempts to move into our community.”

This was done without any coordination with local or federal representatives in the area, noted Town Supervisor Stephen Bedetti.
