KERHONKSON – The Kerhonkson-Accord First Aid Squad has responded to reports of missing funds and state police responding to a company meeting earlier this week.  Company President William Beesimer and Chief Tara McCarthy were suspended, and several other officers allegedly resigned from the EMS provider.  The police were summoned after Beesimer and McCarthy became agitated and began yelling and screaming during the meeting, as reported by Mid-Hudson News.

At Monday evening’s scheduled meeting, a motion to suspend several officers pending the outcome of administrative charges was approved, resulting in the suspensions of Beesimer and McCarthy.  Sources who were at the meeting have told Mid-Hudson News that allegations of missing funds were made during the meeting.

According to a social media post by the squad, “Within hours of notification, two of the suspended officers, as well as one officer not named in the action, voluntarily submitted their resignations effective immediately.” The resignations were accepted, ending the administrative investigation into their actions because they are no longer members of the squad.   “The remaining individuals named in the administrative charges remain entitled to due process. They will be afforded a fair and impartial hearing, which will be overseen by the duly elected Acting Trustees in accordance with organizational governance requirements.”
Chief Carter said there have been no findings of criminal misconduct or embezzlement.  Chief Carter emphasized that there have been no interruptions to emergency services or patient care, and the crews are fully staffed and operational, providing EMS services to the community around the clock.
“Our focus remains where it has always been — patient care, community service, and strengthening this organization for the future.  We appreciate the continued support of our members, mutual-aid partners, and the community we are proud to serve,” Carter added.
As of Wednesday, according to the squad, the following is a list of personnel and their position:

Treasurer: Sharon Gray
