Cyndi Lauper became a 1980s icon with hit songs such as “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time After Time.”
Lauper also had her own signature style, a mix of neon patterns, lace gloves, fishnets and crop tops. Some of Lauper’s eclectic wardrobe will be up for auction next weekend at the Bang Bang Bar at the Stickett Inn Café in Barryville.
Lauper’s longtime stylist, who lives in Sullivan County, organized the event with some of the proceeds benefiting the St. Anthony’s in Yulan. The auction will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
“We just feel so lucky to be able to share some of Cyndi’s archives with the community as she prepares to end her career,” Town of Highland Supervisor John Pizzolato said. “She is just a legend, and we are expecting a successful event.”
Pizzolato said items at the Lauper auction will include items from concerts and photo shoots with a price range of $50 to $300. Lauper, 72, has sold over 50 million records worldwide during her career and has won two Grammy Awards. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last year.
