GREENBURGH – New York State Police arrested a parolee Tuesday following a reckless driving incident and brief police pursuit as part of District Attorney Susan Cacace’s Safe Highway (DASH) initiative. The initiative, established by DA Cacace in cooperation with Troop K Commander Daniel Smith, aims at making Westchester highways safer to travel on by increasing State Police patrols on the Sprain Brook Parkway and I-684 and focusing on dangerous drivers.

At approximately 4:16 p.m. Tuesday, members of the Troop K Community Stabilization Unit, while assigned to the DASH initiative, attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2025 Chevroleton the Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. The driver failed to comply, leading to a short pursuit.

The driver, identified as Jose Martinez, 34, of Bristol, Connecticut, was charged with the misdemeanors of unlawful fleeing of a police officer and reckless driving, along with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

Martinez was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Greenburgh Town Court on February 24, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
