Wappinger School District and police investigating incident at junior high

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Wappinger Central School District (WCSD)Superintendent Dr. Dwight Bonk and Board of Education President Marie Johnson issued a statement earlier this week regarding an incident involving an employee at the Wappingers Junior High School.  According to Dr. Bonk, law enforcement was notified of the complaint that was received on January 29, and the investigation is ongoing.

Pursuant to district policy, Dr. Bonk took immediate action after receiving the complaint.

Rumors have been rampant on social media, with many of them pointing to an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student that may have included alcohol consumption.  Dr. Bonk was unable to comment on the nature of the incident, saying, “As this remains an active investigation, we are unable to provide any further information at this time.”  Dr. Bonk also said, “District Administration will continue to work with law enforcement and other agencies, as deemed necessary, during this investigation.”

A letter was sent to parents and caretakers of WCSD students with similar information.
