CARMEL – Putnam County Legislature Chairman Dan Birmingham Monday assigned his fellow lawmakers to committees for 2026.
Discussion and debate of key issues occurs in committee throughout the year prior to a full vote of the legislature at its monthly meeting held on the first Tuesday of each month.
The Audit & Administration Committee will be chaired by Legislator Erin Crowley of Mahopac with Legislators Thomas Regan of Southeast and Laura Russo of Patterson also serving.
Birmingham will chair the Budget & Finance Committee with each of the remaining eight lawmakers serving as well.
Legislator Russo will chair the Economic Development & Energy Committee while Crowley and freshman Legislator Jake D’Angelo also assigned.
The Health, Social, Educational & Environmental Committee will be chaired by Legislator Nancy Montgomery of Philipstown, the lone Democrat on the governing body.
Montgomery’s appointment is history making for the county since this is the first time the GOP controlled legislature has named a Democrat to chair a committee.
Serving with Montgomery will be Legislator Toni Addonizio of Kent and Russo.
Addonizio will chair the Personnel Committee this year with Legislators Amy Sayegh and Russo also appointed while Legislator Bill Gouldman of Putnam Valley will be chairing the Physical Services Committee with Legislators Regan and Sayegh as members.
The Protective Services Committee will be chaired by Regan with Legislators Addonizio and Montgomery serving.
The Rules, Enactments, Intergovernmental Relations Committee will be headed up by Legislator Sayegh with Birmingham and Gouldman also assigned to the three-member panel.
